This Friday (8/21/09) I will be honored by a retrospective presentation of four of my early 16mm films, all made in the late 1970’s. This isn’t the first time my old work has been included in historical presentations, but it is the first time an entire evening has been devoted to my efforts.

There are an awful lot of people who don’t want to put in any effort at all. They want to outsource, to pay someone to make money for them. Whether it is from fear of learning new skills, a genuine (or perceived) lack of time, or just plain laziness, they will seek to hire someone to do some or all of their business setup and marketing for them.

The advantage of having your own merchant account, if you are working with a company which allows you to have it (some don’t) is that you are handling the money.

If you can get in front of a video camera, if you can get outside of your comfort zone and do that, you may find that it helps you immensely. It helps people get to know you a lot better.
